A multimedia designer, developer, and creative director, all of these titles belong to Ashten Winger, also known as Whoopi. Los Angeles-born is currently working at Netflix as a Motion Designer, using the position to combine his love for computers and art. It was Winger's uncle who introduced him to computers at the age of five. He was an aerospace engineer. He has a variety of projects ranging with collaborators from high-profile commercials to international festivals.

Sketched/inked the letters out on unlined paper. I then reworked them in Illustrator, used a handwriting guide line to test the Ascender height, and matched the baseline of each letter. I also want to add characteristics to the letters’ descender height. I used the site Calligraphr to make “Whoopi” [The name of the font] usable.

In Winger's portfolio, he skillfully employs dot art, pixel pushing, and spriting techniques, infusing his projects with a delightful retro charm reminiscent of 90s arcade games. Amidst today's quest for pixel-perfection, his nostalgic approach stood out. Inspired by his work, I sought to create a pixelated font that deviated from the conventional bitmap style, embarking on a creative challenge of my own.
